James F. Scafide
With a unique background in both the public and private sectors, Jim Scafide brings to Buynak Law more than 20 years of legal and governmental expertise. Mr. Scafide has served in the public sector as an elected official and a senior appointee within the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office. In the private sector, Jim has represented public and private companies on complex transaction and litigation matters.
In his legal practice, Jim has served as the general counsel to one public company and several private companies. |
Most recently, as a Division Chief, he advised the Massachusetts Attorney General on matters of economic development and undertook a review of the Massachusetts regulatory scheme with an intent to reduce over-burdensome and outdated regulations, so as to foster a climate that encouraged economic investment

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- Served as General Counsel to a public and several private corporations, as well as non-profit organizations.
- Advised the Massachusetts Attorney General on matters related to business investment, economic development, and the regulations of business entities and operations.
- Testified before legislative committees, and appeared before, planning commissions, zoning boards and local advisory commission and associations.
- Coordination of all aspects of various mergers and acquisitions, including navigating asset acquisitions in Chapter 11 Bankruptcy proceedings.
- Developed successful litigation strategy related to patent infringement and shareholder lawsuits.
- Oversaw the implementation of 404 Compliance required under Sarbanes Oxley.
