Joy E. Margolis

Joy Margolis practices business and corporate law with an emphasis in corporation and limited liability company organization, growth and maintenance. She represents an array of diverse businesses from alternative energy to service to construction, retail and high technology. Joy enjoys representing established small to medium business owners as well as start-ups and assists venture financing partners with their general counsel involving contracts, employment, intellectual property, and securities filings. Ms Margolis teams  with clients to creatively plan their ideal strategies, whether it be via estate and tax planning or stock sale, merger, or acquisition.

With many years of non profit corporation leadership experience, as a founder, board member, project leader and volunteer coordinator, Ms. Margoilis also leads Buynak Law Firm’s Non-Profit Program by forming, maintaining and advising non-profit corporations and foundations, along with gaining their IRC 501(c)(3) status and evaluating tax entitlements and expenditures.

Professional Experience

  • Corporate and Limited Liability Company formations, some with common and preferred stock; shareholders, investor rights, and buy-sell agreements.
  • Preparing and completing financial offerings, including private placement memorandums; working with start-up entrepreneurs to gain appropriate funding to launch their companies.
  • General Counsel to several start-up companies; understanding their needs and concerns; providing legal solutions to assist with their success.
  • Utilizing settlement facilitation and alternate dispute resolution strategies to resolve business, lease, partnerships, real estate and landlord-tenant disputes.
  • Advising our community non-profit boards and officials on formation, governance, board, management and employee relations, funding and capital campaigns, project management, as well as tax and exemption issues.
