Buynak Law Firm Attorneys Featured on Chamber Radio
“Business is great in Santa Barbara, and Santa Barbara is great for Business” is Steve Cushman’s opening tagline for Chamber Radio. Santa Barbara’s longest running locally produced radio program is hosted by Chamber President, Steve Cushman, Attorney Robert Egenolf, and Bank of Santa Barbara CEO, Eloy Ortega.
Our Firm’s attorneys, Tim Buynak and Jim Scafide, were featured on KZSB-1290’s June 30th show to discuss business, real estate and land use in Santa Barbara.
In an earlier program, Tim Buynak & Michael Fauver were featured and Buynak challenged Cushman to sponsor a forum to regenerate economic activity in Santa Barbara. Cushman announced an Economic Summit is being organized by the Chamber in November, with invitations to every governmental entity in Santa Barbara County.

Upcoming IRS Deadline for Nonprofits!

Attention Small Nonprofits
Don’t Throw Away Your Tax Exempt Status!
Upcoming IRS Deadline is May 15, 2010
In 2007, the IRS instituted a tax return requirement for all small nonprofit organizations with annual receipts under $25,000. In lieu of filing a full return, small nonprofits could elect to file a simple electronic notice return, the 990-N Postcard.
The exempt status of an organization that does not file the required annual return or notice for three consecutive years is automatically revoked, effective as of the filing due date of the third year.
As this May 15 marks year three of the 990-N program, there are many NPOs at risk of losing their exemptions – implications are serious as the regulations do not provide for suspension, only permanent revocation thus necessitating a full re-application for tax exempt status, including fees.
